Friendship

The Christian friendship within the group is something very precious that builds as members share the Word of God and love of God pray and listen to each others experiences, their joys and sorrows, real bonds of friendship are formed.  It is not just a Christian prayer group but far more.  By sharing the love of God members share their friendship and love for one another. Through discussion and listening, anxieties can be dispelled and joy kindled in the heart.

The regular meeting is something to look forward to, where all the latest family and parish news is shared and where needed prayed for.

Friendship and sharing the love of God

As the members get to know one another, share the Word and love of God, friendship, understanding and trust deepens. As they listen in Christian love they bring happiness to each other knowing someone who is understanding and caring.

At the centre of each meeting is the love of God that is shared by the members. Other christians in older age are always welcome to join a group, but as the meetings are parish based it is most likely the members will be Catholic. Living in Christ’s love makes a difference and combats the loneliness that is present in many people’s lives. Nothing is more heartening than to see members exchanging a book, birthday card, planning an outing together, or visiting a lonely or sick parishioner.

Using the tune of ‘It’s a long way to Tipperary’ we sing:

It’s a good time to get acquainted, it’s a good thing to know

Who is sitting close beside you and to smile and say “hello”
