Christian Council on Ageing

The CCOA held their first meeting in Westminster Cathedral Hall in 1982
Soon afterwards Paula Conrad met Fr Gerard MeathOP, a lively and learned Dominican priest, who was keen on CCOA and had been at the Westminster launch of CCOA. Fr Gerard had  heard of Life Ascending and contacted Paula to see if more could be done to promote The Life Ascending.  He was very enthusiastic and constantly came up with ideas for all members to get involved with special events, quiet days and innovative ways of making the Word of God come to life. Fr Gerard soon became our national chaplain and was a driving force and supporter of The Life Ascending until Our Lord called him from this life on 21st May 2002.  Several successful days were shared by both Life Ascending and CCOA and in particular, a day on grandparenting.  This day was full of emotion, soul searching and fun.
