About the Redhill Group
Coffee, chat, discussion & prayer.
We always look forward to welcoming newcomers . We take it in turn to bring a spiritual reading to share.
Our group started in June 1996, after Joyce Neil from Norbury, SE London, came to the Parish to give us a talk about the Life Ascending. (I had seen an article about Life Ascending by Irene Bloor in the A & B newsletter and drew it to the attention of the Parish Council when they were thinking about what they should do for retired parishioners).
In November 2013 our Group Leader Joe Welsby was presented with the St Philip Howard Diocesan medal by Bishop Kerian . He was Sacristan and keyholder of St Joseph’s church for 20 years until his eyesight began to fail. He has been the Life Ascending Group Leader for 18 years.
Recently Dorothy Hickman has taken over the running of the group from Joe. Joe and his wife Maeve have done a grand job, keeping the group buoyant and happy over all these years. We thank them for all they have done to bring joy to many people and wish them a relaxed and happy future.
12 June Joe and Maeve celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary. During the 10am Mass Fr Chris Spain blessed Joe and Maeve as they renewed their marriage vows and they were presented with a Papal Blessing.
There was a lovely parish celebration after Mass in the new Parish Centre. Congratulations and God bless you with many more happy years together.
