Southwark and Westminster region shared a day at The Kairos centre in Richmond.
It was a gloriously, sunny day and the retreat centre and gardens looked beautiful. We had invited Sr Margaret O’Shea to lead the day with the title ‘We are an Easter people – Alleluia is our song’. Sr Margaret captivated the hearts of those listening. She had a wealth of ideas and reflections to impart as well as anecdotes from her long life as a teacher. We could have listened to her all day but as Bishop Emeritus Howard Tripp was offering Mass at 12.15pm Sr Margaret had to curtail the morning talk.
Lunch took place in the splendid dining room where a delicious vegetable soup was served together with crispy bread. Our bowls were constantly topped up and no-one went hungry.
The gardens were bathed in sunshine, enticing everyone to relax and breathe in the Spring air. There never seems time to get to nearby Richmond Park and anyway, who feels like rushing there when the convent is so lovely.
After another precious talk from Sr Margaret with interaction from the floor, we made our way to the chapel for Exposition and Benediction. It was a such a pleasure to have Bishop Howard with us as he has always been a champion of The Life Ascending and supported our movement since about 1982.
So ended another joy filled event where we could spend a few hours in the company of friends and relaxing in the peace and comfort of The Kairos Retreat Centre.
