October 2014 is an important date for VMI
because it’s the date of the 8th International Meeting, to be held this year in Namur, Belgium. It is an important occasion on which to go back over the significant moments which have marked the Movement’s history. In Namur 2014 we shall discuss the statement “The elderly in a changing world, challenges and openings”, using as a basis the thirty or so replies we received to our preparatory enquiry. These replies, often detailed and well-researched, provide us with a fund of ideas in which to discover together how our movements might improve still further, by always being attentive to what is happening in the real world, by serving the oldest members of our communities and helping them to give the best of themselves in order to bring about a more just and loving world .
Our President, Margaret Snowdon and Mike Palowkar our Journal Editor, will represent the UK when they attend this International meeting. These meetings are always demanding, mentally so we will keep them in our prayers as they speak for all our members here.
